The E.T.H.I.C.S. Society (The Enrichment Through Helping Individuals and Communities Succeed)
The ETHICS Society is an organization driven, governed and led by youth. It focuses on leadership development, social awareness and personal responsibility. Currently, there are three ETHICS chapters:
Transitions Mentoring Group (TMG)
Transitions Mentoring Group assists youth and young adults transition from adolescents to adulthood, by acquiring life skills and wisdom from in-touch, young professionals. High school Juniors enter the program just prior to entering their senior year of high school. Then, throughout their senior year, through a series of intimate workshops and mentoring, the students discover different life experiences they can expect once they graduate from high school. Once they graduate, at that time they are paired with a mentor to assist them in their transition. Workshops include: finances, networking, professionalism, healthy relationships, dating, civic responsibility and choosing a career. We currently have former mentees which serve as mentors.
TMG is now enrolling males and females for its oncoming class participants. If you believe that you, or your child, could benefit from this service, click here to learn how you may benefit.
King Arthur's Court
King Arthur's Court is our newest offering. There are several programs and areas of support available to females. However, there are not as many programs offering assistance to men. In collaborating with other community organizations, which targets single mothers, it was expressed to us that if our families are to propel forward, there needs to be more assistance offered for men. Therefore, our board developed this program which assists the residence at the Chestnut YMCA with making a transition from that facility back into mainstream society. We simply serve as an additional resource for group of individuals who need support. In addition to serving as a listening ear, we seek to help the men secure full-time, permanent employment and reasonable housing.
