HIP HOP vs. America: Identifying the Cultural Impact in Metro Louisville

This Youth Forum, hosted by The ETHICS Socieyt, will be held Saturday, May 17th, at Presbyterian Community Center, located at 701 South Hancock Street. Often, discussions on how hip hop music affect our young people occur without youth being at the table to express their point of view.  Not any longer!  The ETHICS Society unites youth and adults to have a productive dialogue about hip hop music and its impact in our community.  Local and national hip hop artist will join The ETHICS Society on the panel discussion.  Recording artist, D. Mawl, recently a guest on BET's Rap City, will also performDoor prizes, including MP3 Players, will be given.  You must register online and be present to be considered for MP3 Players.
The event begins at 1:00 p.m.

The Inaugural Unity Breakfast

The Steward's Staff would like to thank everyone who participated in our first special event.  Our first board meeting was held Saturday, May 19, 2007 and just eight months later 400 guests came out to unify, in the spirit of Dr. King’s Dream and legacy, as well as to support this new organization focused on combating the social ills of the world by empowering individuals through leadership development, community engagement and positive re-enforcement of self-esteem.

This would not have been possible without our corporate partner, Yum! Brands believing in our mission and our programs.  The youth in our programs have significantly been impacted by the involvement of Yum! Brands.  In addition, we thank the Service For Peace for including our event in their celebration.  Click here to read what WAVE 3 thought of the event, and click on the collage below to see the slide show.  Thank you Metro Louisville!

Lastly, The Steward's Staff thanks our Third District Congressman, John Yarmuth (bottom right) for the proclamation he gave to The Steward's Staff for the contribution the organization made to Metro Louisville during this celebration holiday.  Also, we thank Fourth District Councilman, David Tandy (bottom left) for honoring The Steward's Staff on behalf of the Louisville Metro Council.
